Mullite Insulating Bricks

Mullite insulating bricks are high-performance lightweight refractory products manufactured using high-purity synthetic mullite as the primary raw material, combined with advanced foaming technology. Featuring a stable mullite crystal phase (3Al₂O₃·2SiO₂) as its primary crystalline structure, this product exhibits exceptional high-temperature stability, extremely low thermal conductivity, outstanding thermal shock resistance, and minimal creep rates at both low and high temperatures. It represents the premier insulation solution for achieving high efficiency, energy savings, and structural lightweighting in high-temperature kilns operating above 1500°C.

description

Mullite insulating bricks are manufactured using carefully selected high-purity raw materials and a unique foaming molding and high-temperature sintering process. Their exceptional performance stems from the inherent low thermal expansion coefficient, high melting point, and chemical stability of the mullite phase, combined with a meticulously designed closed-cell pore structure:

Extremely high operating temperature and stability: The pure mullite phase exhibits high refractoriness and volume stability at elevated temperatures, with minimal linear change upon re-firing. The structure remains free from shrinkage or deformation during prolonged use.

Superior thermal insulation: Uniformly distributed nano-micron closed pores effectively block thermal conduction and convection, achieving a thermal conductivity far lower than traditional insulating materials.

Exceptional thermal shock resistance: The inherent low thermal expansion coefficient of mullite enables the bricks to withstand rapid thermal cycling without cracking.

Good chemical corrosion resistance: Excellent tolerance to acidic and weakly alkaline environments, with stable performance in reducing atmospheres.

Low heat capacity and high purity: Minimal heat storage capacity delivers significant energy savings; low iron and alkali metal impurity content makes it suitable for industrial environments requiring high cleanliness.

Key Technical Specifications:

- Al₂O₃ content: 60% - 75% (mullite phase dominant)

- Bulk density: 0.6 g/cm³ - 1.2 g/cm³ (series-based)

- Re-firing Linear Change (1500°C × 12h): ≤ 1.0%

- Maximum Service Temperature: 1450°C - 1650°C (Graded)

application

Mullite insulating bricks are the ideal choice for ultra-high temperature and demanding operating conditions, primarily used in the following fields:

1. Ceramics and Advanced Ceramics Industry: High-temperature sections (kiln walls, kiln roofs) of shuttle kilns, tunnel kilns, and roller kilns used for sintering high-grade tableware ceramics, electronic ceramics, and structural ceramics, as well as backing insulation for advanced kiln furniture (e.g., lightweight shelf plates, pillars).
2. Metallurgical Industry: Thermal insulation linings for critical high-temperature areas in ladle furnaces (LF/VOD), large blast furnace hot blast stove domes, carbon roasting furnaces, and high-temperature annealing furnaces.
3. Petrochemical Industry: High-temperature backing insulation layers for the radiation sections of tubular furnaces such as ethylene cracking furnaces, hydrogen production conversion furnaces, and gasification furnaces.
4. Glass Industry: Thermal insulation for high-heat-load zones in glass melting furnaces, including large lintels, breast walls, and upper arches of regenerators.
5. Machinery and Heat Treatment: Insulation for furnace linings in high-temperature vacuum furnaces, atmosphere-controlled sintering furnaces, and single-crystal silicon growth furnaces.
6. Research and Laboratory Equipment: Insulation materials for furnace chambers in various ultra-high-temperature experimental electric furnaces and muffle furnaces.
